ANTONI SOCIAS: BETWEEN ART AND INDUSTRY

The exhibition “Antoni Socías: between art and industry” is an exercise in critical review of the artist’s own production, based on the combination of different shoe designs with works of art directly related to them and vice versa

Antoni Socías (Inca, Majorca, 1955) reveals his family origins, closely linked to the footwear industry in Inca, by grouping together in genealogies of ideas diverse artistic works, which back then inspired one of the most disturbing collections of the mythical shoes of the Makeup brand, created in 1988 by Guillem Ferrer and annexed to Camper in 1991.

Antoni Socías ha combinat durant molts anys la seva tasca artística amb la feina de comunicador i/o dissenyador per a les marques Yanko o Camper i, ocasionalment, per Carmina Shoemaker. He has exhibited in many countries and his work can be found in such important collections as the Reina Sofia National Museum of Art, Artium Vitoria Museum, Es Baluard, La Caixa Foundation, Sunyol Foundation and Centro Galego d’Art Contemporània among many others.
