Històries del calçat

The ‘Històries del Calçat’ project is an initiative of the Museum of Footwear and Industry to preserve and raise awareness of the intangible heritage of the footwear industry in Inca. From the end of 2018 and during 2019, the museum will document the oral memory of many people who were protagonists of this industry through personal interviews. These stories give us a better understanding of the production techniques, the materials used, the underwater economy and the social activities involved in this sector. These people also took part in the presentation of various pieces of the month at the museum, where they gave visibility to objects from the collection that are not usually exhibited, explaining them from their own experience in the industry. The project highlights the importance of preserving these personal experiences, which is part of the collective memory of our community and which are often not recorded in traditional written sources. Through ‘Històries del Calçat’, the museum not only preserves these memories, but also shares them with the public to keep the history of the footwear industry in Inca alive.
